The coolest memorial service
So, this was the set-up at the memorial service. We didn't have the casket there cause I find it creepy to have to watch it being wheeled away for cremation. We didn't have the urn there cause it distracts people (I think).
The sand was from her favorite island. The rocks were from her collection. The orange fabric were the curtains from the study (her instructions had said: "color: orange" what's that supposed to mean?!)
I think my mother would have been amused by this set-up as an example of my craftiness. She considered herself totally non-crafty (and she was right -watching her do anything in that regard gave me hives).
At the end, we played Simon and Garfunkel's "I'm a rock" at her request, and as people were leaving, my brother and I gave them a rock. I thought that was nifty.

Here is an excerpt from my friend Heather: "I have decided that if anything happens to me, you are to consult with Vanessa about my memorial service. Adam is just not very creative and I don't think a keg with Neil Diamond in the background is the way I want to go...Please tell her
how sorry I am--I don't even
know her but have been keeping up with her blog."
Lots of love to you baby! We are all thinking of you.
